How to Make Chicken Cobbler: Step-by-Step Instructions

Are you ready with the ingredients? If so, then it’s time to turn up the heat and start cooking the most cozy recipe: Chicken Cobbler.

If you’re going to prepare this dish for the first time, don’t worry. Just follow my step-by-step instructions.

I bet with my easygoing cooking techniques you can cook the chicken  recipe like a professional chef. So, let’s get started:

1. Get Ready Getting the Equipment Ready for Cooking the Chicken Cobbler Recipe

Firstly, you’ve to preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). At this temperature, you’ll be able to bake both the filling and the biscuit topping evenly. Then take a large baking dish (around 9×13 inches) and grease it with butter or cooking spray lightly.

2. Cook the Onions and GarlicCooking the Onions and Garlic

Put your large skillet on the stove over medium heat, and pour some olive oil there to warm up. Then sauté the diced onion (about 3-5 minutes) until it turns soft and translucent. Through this process, you’ll get a sweet and depth of flavor in the chicken filling.

After that add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. When the fragrant will come out, stop cooking. And don’t let the minced garlic turn brown.

3. Mix the Chicken and Veggies Mixing the Chicken with Veggies

In this step, add the previously shredded chicken and the frozen vegetables, cream of chicken soup, ½ cup of milk, and season with salt and pepper to the skillet. And then mix them well to combine everything perfectly.

Now, heat the mixture until it starts to simmer. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes more to melt the flavors. Then sprinkle some fresh parsley (if you’re using it) and give it a stir.

4. Make the Biscuit DoughMaking the Biscuit Dough

Take another bowl and add the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt and mix them together. Then add the remaining 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup cold unsalted cubed butter and stir the mixture until all of them combine perfectly.

But be careful while mixing. Don’t overmix because a slightly lumpy batter will give you a fluffy biscuit topping.

5. Assemble the CobblerAssembling the Cobbler

Now, pour the biscuit batter evenly over the chicken filling in the baking dish. And use a spatula to spread it (if needed). Don’t worry if the biscuit batter looks uneven. When you’ll bake the biscuit batter, it’ll automatically spread out.

6. Bake the CobblerBaking the Cobbler

Place your cobbler into the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. If the biscuits turn golden brown color and the filling seems bubbly around the edges, your cobbler chicken is ready to get out of the oven.

7. Let It Rest and EnjoyLetting the Chicken Cobbler Rest for A while

Now, let the dish rest for at least 10 minutes before you serve it. Because letting it sit helps the filling to set properly and ensures the biscuits are cooked fully.

Then grab a spoon and enjoy this weeknight special meal with your loved ones.
